Description: This book presents a short portrait of St Vincent de Paul, one of the Church's most beloved saints, tracing his journey from worldly ambition to radical holiness. Born into a poor peasant family, Vincent initially pursued the priesthood in search of security and comfort. His life took a dramatic turn when he was captured by pirates and enslaved in North Africa, an experience that deeply shaped his faith. After escaping and coming under the spiritual influence of Fr Pierre de Berulle, Vincent renounced ambition and committed himself wholly to God. From that moment, his life was marked by tireless service for the salvation of souls, especially among the poor.

He founded the Congregation for the Mission, ministered to the slaves of the royal galleys, and worked tirelessly to renew the Church through preaching and formation. He founded houses for the aged poor, for the orphaned poor, the Daughters of Charity for those women who would give themselves entirely in service of the poor. He also transformed priestly formation through retreats, conferences, and seminaries.

St Vincent de Paul is a remarkable saint, a man who truly lived for God alone and who was never afraid to act for the sake of God, no matter the cost.
