Description: Each of seven chapters of this book focuses around one of Therese's core self-images or roles. Chapter one lifts out key stories about her childhood from "Story of a Soul". Chapter two reveals the young Carmelite Therese as affectionate sister and friend, writing image-filled letters of support and counsel to her sister Celine, who was consigned to remaining home with their ill father. Chapter three gives us a deeper glimpse into the structure of Therese's imaginative world as it traces her childhood identification with Joan of Arc and its further development in the two plays, that as an adult, she penned about Joan's life. Chapter four explores Therese's developing self image as "Martyr of Divine Mercy", while chapter five is focused on Therese's core discovery of her vocation to be "love in the heart of the Church". Finally, the sixth and seventh chapters show Therese in the fullness of her ministry and mission as teacher, formator, spiritual sister, and emerging saint.
