A sacramental Christology and anthropology form the basis for Fr Bernard Haring’s moral theology: Christ, as Word of God and High Priest, embodies the perfect expression of worship and obedience. Cahalan introduces Haring and his place in the history of Roman Catholic moral theology. Then she examines the central concepts of Haring’s sacramental-moral theology: responsibility, Christ as Word of God and High Priest, the human person as word and worshipper, and the sacraments as dialogue and response. Part Three of the book discusses the Christian moral life and the virtue of religion. Cahalan concludes her study by briefly examining contemporary conversations in liturgy and ethics in relationship to Haring’s system.
