In transcending her own dreadful physical suffering that resulted from a childhood injury, Eileen O'Connor discovered a vocation to help the sick poor. With this mission she co-founded Our Lady's Nurses for the Poor in 1913. Hers is a story of empowerment, personal struggle, and a love of humanity. Through her story we catch deep glances into moments of Australian history, the role of women in society, workings of the Catholic Church, but above all we find a saintly inspiration. Eileen O'Connor inspired others to join in her work, and to develop their spirituality. A series of meditations, reminiscences and reflections on that work and spirituality together with biographical information makes up the majority of this book. This revised edition marks an important step in the cause to admit Eileen O'Connor into the Catholic Church's canon list of saints. Supporters of Eileen O'Connor's cause provide insights into her character and spirituality, and list thirteen reasons for her beatification.
