This book grapples with some of the arguments about the merits of the ordination of women as priests which still continue to generate controversy more than a decade after the decision of the General Synod that made it possible. It focuses on two connected issues. The first is the question of what is meant by 'reception' (the process of discerning the truth of a development in the life of the Church) and the second concerns the practice of 'communion' (the unique quality of interpersonal relationships in the Church that is entered into through baptism, faith and the gift of the Holy Spirit). Contributors include William G. Rusch, John Hind, Mary Tanner, and Paul Avis.
